Oh, David, how many wonderful anecdotes!!! I will get Mums to read them tomorrow. Really, so we missed a Fiddler rehearsal for Di and Charles?!! I should damned well think so. I loved this wedding because it broke so many boundaries.

Remember – we skipped a dress rehearsal of Fiddler on the Roof in 1981 at the Sneddon Theatre because we insisted on watching Prince Charles and Diana wedding at Libby’s house! Prof Scholtz was NOT amused…! Windsor was my home town when I lived in the UK – even after I moved to London, I regarded it as home. My mum lived near by. So I wasn’t going to miss this wedding for anything. I agree, I was genuinely moved by the sheer sincerity of their love for one another and for all the freshness and barrier breaking their relationship has lead to. God bless them and keep them safe. I had friends on the long Walk who were texting me all day! My mum modelled for the Queen on her first outing after a month’s mourning for the passing of her father King George. It was at the Grovenor House Hotel on Park Lane. I have pictures somewhere. My aunt went on to be the Head Model at Norman Hartnell’s (the Queen’s fashion house) and for many years she used to visit Buckingham Palace 3 times a year to model the latest collections for the Queen in her own bedroom! She had some amazing stories about her Majesty. Once, the corgies posed on the carpet in front of my aunt as she was cat walking around the bedroom and the Queen immediately apologised and got down on her knees and cleaned the poo up. My aunt wasn’t allowed to help her. Her Majesty is famous for her sharp wit and passing remarks. Many years later, both my mum and my aunt (Mara Levy) were invited to the Buckingham Palace summer Garden Party which entailed an audience with the Queen in the garden. What was supposed to have been a brief handshake turned into a 20 minute chat with her Majesty with lots of laughter and anecdotes. Apparently, everyone in the cue were looking to see what the delay was about, and when my aunt began to excuse themselves to make way for the other guests, Her Majesty simply said: “Oh let them wait, this is much more fun!” Some years ago now, my mum and I attended the Honours list award ceremony. My brother Nigel was awarded an MBE for his bravery as a BBC war cameraman during the first Iraq War. As the Queen is pinning the award on him she said something along the lines of “Don’t forget to keep your head down!” meaning look after yourself in combat situations.
She is indeed, quite a remarkable lady – as is your wonderful mum. Tell her from me I liked her Fascinator hat! She would not look out of place at the Ascot races!!
