I’m also desperate to see a hedgehog, but alas, only saw flattened ones on the road. Apparently they are becoming endangered.
I saw a signpost for a hedgehog hospital in Newton Abbot, Devon, but was unable to investigate, so I don’t know if it’s open to the public.

I am totally like you regarding their bird life. I get so excited at seeing Bluetits and Thrush on their bird table. And yes, the squirrels are beautiful. I have kept my eyes out for a hedgehog but haven’t come across one yet. I leave for England on the 24th. Once again that whole world will be open to me!
