I was really mad with myself over my damned shoulder, Paul, I had loved whacking that golf ball 150 metres into the air. But it’s as if God is choosing tasty little morsels for me to sample, taste and enjoy before moving me onto the next gastronomic delight! Acting, writing, golf, birds……Do you see what I mean???
Fortunately, I have been able to keep the writing and hopefully the birds will be mine to keep for a long time…!!!

I also used to play golf then in latter years bowls but both a memory now.
I was introduced slowly to bird watching in a small way by a friend who is a serious birder ! I say bird watching in a rather extravagant way as I am not a serious birder but I have a small tree filled garden next to a small river. Out bird life is pretty good here and I have become more aware of the little feathered friends and ‘large feathered ” Ha de Daas. I also have a regular short visit from a Cape Robin who mainly visits to listen to the chat in my unit – voices seem to attract. He/she probably spreads the gossip 🙂
Going back to my friend the serious birder she introduced myself and a friend to the birds of the air when in the Kruger Park one year saying we were missing all the smaller gems by concentrating on the ” Big 5″ . it has made me vary much more aware of the lovely bird life we have in South Africa. I like the idea of the App for birds songs too

We would recommend the bird hides at Wilderness where we watched a family of sea eagles. Wait until you see a Bokmakari, they are one of our favourites. Remember to bring your bins when you come to UK later in the year.
