Hello Gaynor, thanks for this informative and challenging blog. I didn’t see the Carte Blanche programme about Robbie Eddles (I live in NZ now) but having read your blog I contacted Colleen, his Mum, who said she was at school with you. I can’t recall her maiden name but her dad was an actor.

Really, Gaynor, then he is really benefitting from the Donor foundation! As you know from my blog, I was totally pathetic as far as registering goes. Jenna’s need bought it home to me. In some countries everyone is considered a donor unless they decide otherwise. That for me is sensible!

It’s strange how one always fully intends to do something but never gets around to doing it. That was me and organ donation, Romary. But now, thanks to Jenna it is done!

Oh Gaynor, I love your blog!
My hubby has had 3 cornea transplants, (2 in His left eye, 1 in the right eye) and probably needs another in the right eye next year as the cornea is degenerating. It’s due to a genetic disorder called keritacona, where the cornea grows progressively into a cone shape causing high astigmatism and visual loss. If it wasn’t for modern technology and organ our stem cell donars, gee would have been blind. The first two grafts were donated corneas, the last one, done 2 years ago was from stem cells.

Another thought provoking blog! Both Peter and I made the decision to become organ donors many years ago and even then, the number of donors was well below the required number. Our family is aware of our wishes and accept it.
